JAM's experience in the Utah Oil Sands began in 1998 at Asphalt Ridge, when Burk Adams took a six week assignment to commission the Crown Energy extraction facility. Those six weeks have resulted in an 18 year journey to develop sustainable bitumen/asphalt production in Utah. We have also worked on a wide range of oil sands related projects for many of the major operators in Canada. From 2008 to early 2010, and again in 2012, JAM lead the process design and consulted in all phases of development and construction of a 1,200 barrel/day modified hot water extraction plant with dry tailings and full water recycle at Asphalt Ridge. The plant is owned and operated by Tar Sands Holdings II, LLC.
